Erika Arenas

Erika Arenas is a social demographer whose research examines how inequalities emerge and persist across health, education, and work, with a focus on migration, race and ethnicity, and social stratification. As Co-Principal Investigator of the Mexican Family Life Survey (MxFLS), she designs and analyzes nationally representative panel data to study how migration and public policy shape health and economic well-being. Her work highlights how factors such as skin color, documentation status, and socio-economic background influence life chances and how programs like Mexico’s Seguro Popular can reduce disparities and improve population health.
